If you decided to visit our island, you might be looking for ways how to get from Athens to Paros. This article will help you with the orientation however it is not standard. You should always check schedules online on your own because they might change from season to season.
First of all, you should know that it is quite easy to get from Athens to Paros. During last few years ferries and flights have become frequent but, you might need to think ahead. For few years now, Paros has become very popular and therefore, the demand is quite high. That is why we suggest you purchase a ferry ticket or a plane ticket from Athens to Paros early. Probably the best idea is to buy it at the same time you buy a ticket from your country to Greece.

This is probably the easiest way to get from Athens to Paros. Because flights from the capital of Greece to our island are frequent, you will find a ticket. Of course, this applies if you book it early. It is convenient to land in Athens, wait for e.g. two hours and then depart for Paros Island. Most of the time, there are 3 flights a day and the time of flight is about 30 minutes. If you decide get from Athens to Paros by plane, don’t forget to leave 2 hour gap between your flights.

This time let say that you wish to get from Athens to Paros by a ferry. First of all, also in this occasion, you should purchase a ticket in advance. As you land in Athens, you have to get to Piraeus from Athens International Airport. That can be accomplished in 3 ways; by bus, by train or using a taxi or transfer service.
Allow us to say that, the one by bus is the most convenient, as far as public transport is concerned. That is due to the fact that you will get into the bus and 1 or 1.5 hours later you will be in Piraeus. The time of course depends on traffic. However, if you choose to use the train (metro) you will need to change lines. Therefore, you will take the train from the airport to “Monastiraki” station and then change the line towards Piraeus. Do not think that this is hard; it is quite easy but not as easy as taking the bus.
Taking a taxi or using transfer service is of course the most convenient, stress-free way to reach Piraeus. However it costs. We will not concentrate on costs because they might change but, you might have a 50€ bill in mind.
It is useful to know that it takes about 4.5 hours to reach Paros from Piraeus. If you choose to travel with a “high speed ferry” it is even faster.

It is very important to know that ferries from Athens (Piraeus port) to Paros depart early in the morning and in the afternoon (around 5 p.m.). Therefore, if your flight arrives at e.g. 4 p.m., you will not make it. In this case you will have to stay overnight in Athens. If this is the case, then we suggest you spend the night in the airport. It is more convenient unless you have booked a hotel.

Athens features other two ports but on the east side of Attica. They are called Rafina port and Lavrio port. You should check ferry schedule from these ports as well. However, the most popular way to get from Athens to Paros is from Piraeus port.
